contributions to the reseach project

 1. Contributed to the base project, most of the initial research on the prosthetic arm was done by me for the Reader response and the team continued from where I left off.  I started off with the prostheses done by Dr Ortiz-Catalan and the TMR. Did further research into the incorporation of heat-sensing capable prosthetics and how they work. Found the MiniTouch sensor which allows heat sensations to prosthetics.

2. Pitched the prosthetic as an idea for us to improve upon for the technical report.

3. Suggested and finalized the decision to choose the Bebionic hand from Ottobock as the base product we would like to improve on

4. Contributed to the technical research paper by refining the problem statement, introducing and talking about the Active Thermal Skin (ATS), Targeted Muscle Reinnervation (TMR), and introduced the Bebionic hand as the product we would like to improve upon. 

5. Wrote the part talking about Osseointegration 

6. Wrote part of the methodology, - primary and secondary

Hero Arm summary draft 1.

  The webpage "Hero Arm" from Open Bionics (n.d) discusses the Hero Arm bionic prosthetic. The Hero Arm is a forearm prosthetic that functions by picking up myoelectric signals from the user’s arm muscles using special sensors. These signals are translated into instructions, which tell the arm how to move. According to Open Bionics (n.d), the Hero Arm is capable of performing six different grips, allowing the user to execute basic actions such as eating with utensils and brushing teeth. It also features a 180° rotatable wrist for added flexibility. In terms of build quality, the Hero Arm is "3D printed from a soft flexible elastomer", allowing it to comfortably fit the user's arm. Breathable vents are positioned throughout the liner for improved air circulation to keep the user’s arm cool.
